Sunlight greenhouses, a unique facility in China, are relatively simple structures that fully utilize solar energy. They are commonly used for winter vegetable cultivation in cold regions without the need for heating. Sunlight greenhouses have distinct characteristics that make them suitable for producing fresh vegetables. The structures and classification methods of sunlight greenhouses vary across different regions. The main types are rammed earth greenhouses, brick and stone structure greenhouses, and composite structure greenhouses, among others. They can also be categorized based on the length of the back roof slope, such as long and short back slope greenhouses, and based on the shape of the front roof, including two-fold, three-fold, dome, and micro-arch styles. Structurally, sunlight greenhouses can be made of bamboo and wood, steel and wood, reinforced concrete, all-steel, all-reinforced concrete, suspension, or hot-dip galvanized steel pipe assembly.

The front slope is covered with insulation at night, while the east, west, and north sides are single-slope plastic greenhouses with surrounding walls, collectively known as sunlight greenhouses. The prototype of these greenhouses was the single-slope glass greenhouse, which evolved into early versions of sunlight greenhouses when plastic film replaced glass as the transparent covering material for the front slope. Sunlight greenhouses are characterized by good insulation, low investment, and energy efficiency, making them particularly suitable for use in economically underdeveloped rural areas in China.

It has high strength, good compression and bending resistance. The surface of the greenhouse support is smooth, and the greenhouse film will not be damaged by friction with the greenhouse surface. The greenhouse surface is fixed by drill tail bolts without welding, which greatly improves the service life of greenhouse. The wall adopts brick wall, cob wall, thermal insulation board and quilt structure, which has beautiful overall shape and can be planted and used all the year round.
